Sustainability Initiatives
The TSANZSRS ASM is committed to sustainability practice and reducing the impact on the environment. We encourage all attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, and suppliers to also consider environmentally friendly options in attending the Meeting.
Please see below some of the initiatives underway with the organisers and suppliers for the Meeting.
The Venue: Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC)
Adelaide Convention Centre has actively participated in the EarthCheck program since 2007 and is proud to be the first convention centre in the world to be awarded the Master certification. Only 29 properties worldwide hold this certification.
Waste is a large part of events and Adelaide Convention Centre has tackled this problem, virtually eliminating waste going to landfills by recycling and reusing various waste streams including electronics, glass, plastics, corks and candles. The Centre has an on-site composting system and the largest worm farm in the southern hemisphere, used to fertilise the surrounding gardens.
The Centre has energy saving processes in place including using efficient LED lighting, a turn-off policy and a policy of using at least 25% certified green energy.
Visit ACC's website for more sustainability information.
Food Waste

Adelaide Convention Centre is committed to sustainable practices and being environmentally responsible in every aspect of our business. Internationally recognised as a leader in sustainability, we have actively participated in the global EarthCheck program since 2007. In 2023, we proudly became the world’s first convention centre to achieve EarthCheck’s coveted Master certification, reflecting more than 15 years’ best practice in business, environmental and social sustainability.
We take great pride in supporting local, and through our ‘South Australia’ first supplier policy ensure that the economic benefit of our operation extends well beyond our venue to support local business. Over 97 percent of produce featured on our menus is sourced from local, sustainable environments, with a diverse representation of South Australia’s food and beverage regions.
Our efforts in sustainability are led by our commitment to reduce waste to landfill. In our latest EarthCheck audit, we achieved a greater than 99 percent diversion from landfill rate, which was aided by the installation of Adelaide’s first WasteMaster - an on-site organics recycling unit. We also operate a comprehensive food redistribution program, which, to date, has seen us donate more than 200,000 unused meals to support OzHarvest, Faithworks and Foodbank SA. Our efforts in this area not only help feed Adelaide’s hungry but save greenhouse gas emissions.
We’re committed to working with our clients on sustainable event management for a better tomorrow and invite you to contact our team or visit adelaidecc.com.au/sustainability for more information.
