Entry into Australia

Perth Airport is an international, domestic and general aviation airport serving Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. It is the fourth busiest airport in Australia measured by passenger movements and falls within the boundaries of the City of Belmont, City of Kalamunda and the City of Swan.

On your arrival at Perth Airport

Please note that all food, plant and animal related material (such as feathers, skins or bone) must be declared on arrival and will be checked by officials. If in doubt, declare it. The process is usually very efficient, but failure to declare prohibited goods leads to severe penalties.

Climate

In Perth, March marks the transition from summer to autumn, with temperatures starting to cool down but still remaining warm and pleasant. Average daily maximum temperatures are around 30.2°C (86.4°F), though they can range from 20.2°C (68.4°F) to 42.4°C (108.3°F). Rainfall is relatively low, averaging about 20 mm (0.8 inches) over a couple of rainy days. 

Childcare

TSANZSRS is an adult event and unfortunately, we are unable to offer childcare on site, due to lack of uptake in previous years. Children are not permitted in the exhibition space but are welcome in all public areas. Supervising adults will be permitted to collect food and drink from the exhibition space with their children. If children visit the conference centre their safety is the responsibility of their supervising adult and TSANZ accept no liability. TSANZSRS is a breastfeeding friendly event.

Time

The time zone for Perth is 8 hours ahead of GMT.

Accessibility

All public areas of Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and PCEC itself are wheelchair accessible. There is 1 internal and 2 external passenger lifts providing access between the City of Perth Convention Centre Car Park and Levels 1 and 2 of PCEC.

Courtesy wheelchairs are available on request from the Information Desk on Level 2 (subject to availability).

Unisex disabled toilets are situated throughout PCEC and in each of the 6 exhibition pavilions. All accessible toilets have emergency call buttons. 

Tactile and Braille Maps are located at both front entry registration desks and at all meeting rooms, toilets and signposted lifts.

The Riverside Theatre (TSANZ and Joint sessions) offers hearing audio-loop coverage and features dedicated wheelchair space.

Public Transport

Perth has an excellent transport system serving the entire metropolitan area. The Central Area Transit (CAT) bus system provides a free, scenic link between the foreshore and precinct hotels, shops, restaurants, museums and cinemas in and around the City Centre. 

Bus stands closest to PCEC are located in the Busport adjacent to PCEC and also on William Street. Weekday services run every 5 – 15 minutes from 6.50am to 6.20pm WST. Please refer to the Transperth website at www.transperth.wa.gov.au for further information, including timetables and maps. 

The closest train station is ‘Elizabeth Quay’ (Corner of William Street and The Esplanade).

Parking

The Centre’s car park is accessible via Mill Street, Mounts Bay Road and the Riverside Drive off ramp of the Mitchell Freeway.

Dress for all scientific sessions and social functions is business casual. 

Name Badges

Name badges will be given to all delegates on registration, we ask that you wear your badge at all times, including social functions.
